Different type of Glassware and it's use

            The capacity of glasses either measured in 'out' ,'oz', or 'ml'. The glassware capacity commonly expressed in 'oz' (ounce).
            One fluid ounce =29.57 ml and  In practical , it is taken as 30 ml.

Glass Name and Uses 


1 - Cocktail Glass                                                                  

  • Uses:- For all kind of Cocktail.
  • Size:- 4.5 oz/ 120 ml                                                   

2 - Champagne Saucer
  • Uses:- For Champagne not preferred as the effervescence goes of soon due to wider surface area.
  • Size:- 6 to 8 oz /180 to 240 ml


3Champagne Tulip

  • Uses:- Champagne and sparkling wine.
  • Size:- 6 to 8 oz /180 to 240 ml

4 - Champagne Flute

  • Uses:- Champagne and sparkling wine.
  • Size:- 6 to 8 oz /180 to 240 ml.

5 - Paris Goblet

  • Uses :- Wine,water,Juice,Beer and cocktails especially Cobblers and pina colada.
  • Size:- 6.7 oz /180 ml .

6 - Worthington

  • Uses :- Bottled beer, Soft drink, juices ,coolers and long drink.
  • Size :- 12 oz / 355 ml ,  20 oz /590 ml

7 - Rock/Old Fashioned/Low ball glass

  • Uses:- Serving spirits such as Whiskey ,neat or on the rocks (with  ice cube) .It is also normally used to serve creation Cocktail,such as the old Fashioned ,Nagroni ,White Russian.
  • Size :- 6 to 8 oz /180 to 240 ml.

8 - Glencairn whiskey glass

  • Uses:- commonly used to open up the aromas of whiskey for full appreciation.
  • Size :- 6 oz /175 ml.

9 - Brandy balloon /Snifter

  • Uses:- It is mostly used to serve aged brow liquor such as bourbon,brandy ,whiskey and liquor based cocktail.
  • Size :- 8 to 10 oz/240 to 290 ml.

10 - Highball /Collins

  • Uses:- Used for spirits and mixture,highballs, John Collins, Tom Collins,Mint Julep and Water.
  • Size :- 8 to 12 oz/240 to 350 ml.

11 - Shot/Shooter glass

  •  Uses:- A short glass originally designed to hold measure spirits or liquor, Which is either imbibed straight from the glass("a shot") poured into a cocktail ("a drink"). An Alcoholic beverage served in a shot glass and typically consumed quickly, in one gulp, may also known as a "Shooter".
  • Size :- 2 oz /60 ml

12 - Sour glass

  • Uses:- Whiskey sour and other simple sour drink . This little glass is made to enjoy small drink.
  • Size :- 4.5 oz /120 ml .

13 - Martini Cocktail glass

  • Uses:- Used to served Cocktail without ice or up, dry,medium and Sweet Martinis ,Manhattans and for other Cocktail.
  • Size :- 4 to 6 oz /120 to 180 ml .


14 - Margarita

  • Uses:- A versatile cocktail glass for serving Margarita and other mixed drinks, as well as guacamole and desserts.
  • Size :- 5 to 6 oz /150 to 180 ml .

15 - Copita (Sherry)

  • Uses:- Mainly  for Sherry but also for sweet wine.
  • Size :- 3 to 4 oz / 90 to 120 ml.


16 - Port or Sherry

  • Uses:- Port,Sherry and sweet wine.
  • Size :-  6.5 oz /190 ml.

17 - Elgin glass

  • Uses:- For sherry and smaller version is for liqueurs.
  • Size :-10 oz /30 ml .

18 - Lager/Pilssner

  • Uses:- Bottled and drought lager beer.
  • Size :-11 to 12 oz /330 to 360 ml .

19 - Wine glass
  • Uses :-A wine glass is a type of glass that is used to drink and taste wine.
  • Size:-  (White wine ) 6 to 8 oz /180 to 240 ml, (Red Wine) 8 to 13 oz/240 to 350 ml.





20 - Liqueur glass
  • Uses :- A small glass for serving a small amount of liqueur typically (after dinner) drinking glass.
  • Size :- 2 to 3 oz/ 60 to 180 ml .
